Todd Phillips was born in Brooklyn and studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He directed, wrote, and produced the features Road Trip (00), Old School (03), Starsky & Hutch (04), Due Date (10), the Hangover trilogy (09, 11, 13), and War Dogs (16). Joker (19) is his latest film.
Are you ready to experience Joker as you’ve never seen before? The final full trailer is here, and there was nothing but excitement coming from me as I watched the iconic arch nemesis reimagined! Under the direction of Todd Phillps, ‘Joker’ examines the un-becoming of Arthur Fleck, played by Oscar nominee, Joaquin Phoenix.
Now I’ve been a fan of Phoenix since his performance alongside Mel Gibson in Signs, his oddball heroic character in The Village and so on. Who better to take on the becoming of the most psychotic villain of Gotham City than he?

Phillps, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver, shows a man disregarded by society and its adverse effects on man seeking dignity, acceptance, and respect. Just a Clown in search of a Crown of Fame.
The beauty to capture the un-becoming of a man technically mastered by Lawerence Sher, Cinematography and Mark Friedberg, Production Design and Jeff Groth, Editing. And just like that a 1970s vintage Gotham is birthed in all of its rancid glory.
The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”), and Shea Whigham (upcoming “First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”).

Joker will premiere at this Saturday’s Venice Film Festival, followed by a screening at Toronto International Film Festival where I will happily attend! And New York Film Festival before it arrives in U.S. theaters on October 4th.
